Changing Hand for WTCHS/UCHS
Step 1 |

Remove end cap screws |
Loosen
flange |
Step 2 |

| Drive
out worm. On WTCHS units, the entire worm and its bearing
can be removed from the closed end. Note: On some WTCHS
ratios, the worm gear teeth will not clear the snap ring.
Withdraw the worm shaft as far as it will go, reach in and compress
the snap ring with snap ring pliers, and slide worm and snap ring
out together (On sizes 80 and 100, snap ring is in cover.
Skip the next step.) |
Step 3 |

| Move
bearing retaining snap ring. Use a snap ring tool to move
the bearing retaining snap ring to the groove in opposite end
of the housing. It may be frustrating replacing the snap
ring in its groove. We recommend that you position the snap
ring just in front of the groove and let the bearing square up
and seat the ring as you drive the worm shaft in.
Step 4 |

| Reverse
worm and drive in. Drive in worm shaft until bearing seats
against the snap ring.
Step 5 |
| Reassemble
flange and end cap, check for bearing end play. Replace
the flange with the drain hole down to drain any condensation
or any oil which could escape from a damaged or failing seal. |
