| Considerations
for Special Mounting
This section describes modifications that
apply to special mounting positions. All involve additional charges
to the customer. When units are ordered for OEM requirements,
the units will be modified at the factory as described on this page, and
costs will be lower. Cleveland Gear can modify stock units, and
prices will be quoted depending on your needs.
This section deals with the following topics:
WT ceiling mount, WT
sidewall mount, WT inclined mount,
WB ceiling mount, WB
sidewall mount, WB inclined mount.
To skip to one of these topics, follow the link.
Note that some of the modifications described
below are mandatory for proper performance (such as relocation of fill
plugs) and others, (such as relocation of the oil sight gauge) are discretionary.

Ceiling
Mount
WT
Sizes 50 through 135

|
| Above,
a ceiling mounting position. There is no problem with lubrication,
because the input shaft is always in lubricant. A vented
oil fill plug will be substituted for the oil drain plug, and
a solid drain plug will be substituted for the normal vented fill
plug. An oil level gauge can be installed at the centerline
of the input shaft in either the solid cover or the housing. |
|
Sidewall
Mount
WT
Sizes 50 through 135
|
|

|
| Above
in a sidewall mount an oil level plug will be inserted where the
oil drain normally is. A vented oil fill plug or drain plug
will be installed where the oil sight gauge normally is, depending
on whether the input shaft is up or down. A drain or fill
plug, as appropriate, will be installed in the opposite position.
Grease fitting installation or a permanently sealed bearing is
required for the top high speed bearing when input revolution
is slower than 600rpm. |
|
Inclined
Mount
WT
Sizes 50 through 135
|
|

|
| In
an inclined mounting position, as the angle is increased, lubrication
of some bearings is cut off. Therefore, if the reducer is
to be mounted in the inclined position, Cleveland Gear should
be advised of output speeds, angle of mounting and orientation
so that recommendations can be made regarding suitable oil levels,
addition of grease fittings or use of a permanently sealed bearing,
and positioning of oil drains. |

| Above,
a ceiling mounting position. An oil level sight gauge can
be installed in the center of the housing. A vented oil
fill plug will be substituted for the oil drain plug, and a solid
drain plug will be substituted for the normal vented fill plug.
Grease fitting installation or a permanently sealed bearing is
required when input revolution is slower than 600rpm. |

Sidewall
Mount
WB
Sizes 50 through 135
|
|

|
| On
a sidewall mount if the output shaft is down, drain and fill plugs
must be installed where shown. If the output shaft is up,
only a new oil drain plug must be installed. An oil sight
gauge can be installed at the centerline. Grease fitting
installation or a permanently sealed bearing is required for the
top high speed bearing when input revolution is slower than 600rpm. |

|
| On
an inclined mounting position, lubrication of some bearings may
become a problem as the angle is increased. Therefore, if
the reducer is to be mounted in the inclined position. Cleveland
Gear should be advised of output speeds, angle of mounting
and orientation so that recommendations can be made regarding
suitable oil levels, addition of grease fittings or use of a permanently
sealed bearing, and positioning of oil drains. |
